Description
Nuts change what Turkish delight is. The texture stops being soft and yielding and becomes something with a proper chew to it — closer to nougat than to the jelly people picture.
Twenty pieces each of Hazelnut and Almond & Coconut, with ten of plain Original between them. Hazelnut is toasted, buttery and deep. Almond & Coconut is lighter and more tropical, with the almond sitting behind the coconut so it does not run away with itself.
They work considerably better together than either does alone, and the Original stops the whole box becoming too rich to get through.
How it tastes
Hazelnut — Toasted and buttery, with a chew the fruit flavours do not have. Closer to nougat than to jelly, and much more of a mouthful.
Almond and Coconut — Lighter and more tropical than the hazelnut, with almond sitting behind the coconut to stop it becoming one-note. The most unusual thing we make.
Original — Plain lokum, and the base everything else is built on. Honeyed and soft, with a faint citrus note underneath. Mild enough that it resets your palate between the stronger pieces.
