Description
Rose is the original, the one every other flavour is measured against, and the one people mean when they picture Turkish delight — pale pink, dusted white, faintly floral. It has a reputation in Britain, most of it earned by cheap versions made with synthetic rose that really does taste like soap. Ours is not that.
What it tastes like
Done properly, rose is delicate rather than perfumed — a soft floral note that sits behind the sweetness rather than shouting over it. There’s a reason it has survived five hundred years: when the rose is real, it’s elegant, gentle and quietly luxurious, the confectionery equivalent of a good cup of tea. If your only experience of rose is a tin from a garage, this will surprise you.
How we make it
We use real rose water and actual rose, not the synthetic rose oil that gives the flavour its bad name. That’s the whole difference between elegant and soapy, and it’s not a corner we cut. Naturally vegan and gluten-free, set without gelatine, hand-rolled and dusted in the traditional way.
How to enjoy it
Rose is the classic pairing for strong coffee or black tea — the bitterness of the cup and the softness of the sweet are made for each other. It’s the one to serve after dinner, to bring out at Eid or Christmas, and the flavour most worth trying if you want to understand what Turkish delight is actually meant to be.
